Most parts of Odisha would receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure, a Met office release said here today.
According to the release, a low pressure area formed over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off North Andhra and Odisha Coast lay over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Odisha coast between Vizag and Gopalpur at 8.30 AM today.
“The northwesterly wind from the Bay of Bengal is presently blowing across Odisha at 15-20 km per hour due to the low pressure, which is most likely take the shape of a depression in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, rain or thundershower may occur at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over South Odisha during next 24 hours”, LDP Ray, senior meteorologist of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, told the media.
The Met department has neither issued any warning to local fishermen and nor asked the port authorities to hoist danger signal as there is no indication of strong wind during the period.
