Bhubaneswar, Jun 17:
Most parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours under the influence of a low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal, the local Met office said today.
Talking to the media, a senior official of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Ramesh Chandra Nayak said an upper air cyclonic circulation formed over West Central Bay of Bengal off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast had turned into a low pressure area this morning over the same region.
Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at many places over South Odisha and at a few places over North Odisha during the next 24 hours.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places over Coastal Odisha during the period,” Nayak said.
He also said the fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea as strong and gusty wind with speed reaching 40-45 kmph would prevail along and off the state coast.
Meanwhile, the rainfall recorded since last 24 hours was the highest in Baripada with 95.8 mm followed by Bolangir (41), Titlagarh (29), Bhubaneswar (19.1), Cuttack (18.4) and Baleswar (14).
