Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around September 18, which would trigger rainfall across Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.
“A low pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal around 18th September. Strengthening of winds prior to this development may happen over Andaman sea, east-central and south Bay of Bengal from 16th September,” a bulletin of the IMD said.
In view of the likely adverse sea conditions, fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas on 16th-18th September and also plan based on the further updates in this regard, the bulletin added.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted that rain/thundershower likely to occur at many places over north Odisha and at a few places over south Odisha. It has also warned of possible heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha on September 17 and over coastal Odisha on September 18.
