Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal (BoB) & neighbourhood, which is likely to trigger rainfall across Odisha till August 21, the Regional Meteorological Centre said today.
“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Odisha coasts, a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours,” a bulletin of the India Meteorological Department said.
Heavy Rainfall Warning:
August 19: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts with isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada.
August 20: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Malkangiri and Bargarh districts with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Balangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sonepur.
August 21: Heavy rainfall likely at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast during next 48 hours (upto morning of 21.08.2018).
On the other hand, rain & thunderstorm warning has been issued for Koraput, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur till 6.30 PM today.
