A young man was admitted to hospital after he slit his tongue with a blade in Sarankul village under Odagaon block Odisha’s Nayagada district Monday.
Ashok Behera (31) hails from Barkul village under the Balugaon police station in Khurda district and has been working as a blacksmith in Nayagarh. He was staying with his friends in a rented house near Ladoo Baba temple in Sarankul village. At 1 pm on Sunday night, Ashok’s friends informed the police after they found that he had slit his tongue with a blade and was severely bleeding.
He has taken this extreme step as he was madly in love. He had slit his tongue with a blade one year ago, according to sources.
The police admitted him to the Sarankul hospital and later shifted him to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated. His condition is now stable, police said.
