The incident occurred while the liquor shop owner along with one of his employees was returning from the shop with the cash.

Siba Mohanty (55), owner of Trupti Wine Shop in Ashok Nagar was travelling on his scooterette with one of his employees after closing his shop at 10.30 pm.

“Three motorcycle-borne miscreants intercepted our vehicle. One of them brandished a pistol and stared hitting me with the butt before snatching away the bag containing Rs 1.4 lakh,” alleged Mohanty.

The miscreants had masked their faces with towels and were in the age group of 20 to 25 years.

“I was passing through the spot when the three miscreants started hitting a man with the butt of a pistol and later snatched a bag from him. Though I was on my motorcycle I did not dare to chase them as they were brandishing firearm,” said an eyewitness.
