An online platform has been launched on Friday offering last rites-related services to the denizens of capital city of Odisha.


The portal offers a comprehensive package beginning from funeral ceremony to the 13th day rituals related to it.

Inaugurating the website, an initiative of Swargadwara Service Pvt. Ltd at a city-based hotel, BMC Mayor Ananta Narayana Jena said, “It’s the need of the hour and will be added to the smart city project for benefit of Bhubaneswarites”.

“Joint family system is obsolete now in society. Children are interested in living separately. In coming days, a situation will arise when it will be difficult to gather associates to perform the last rites and at that time will come to help,” said chief guest Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, editor, The Sambad.

The services has been currently lodged in the capital city. The services will be rolled out to Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Angul, Berhampur soon. In subsequent phases, it will go outside Odisha.

Among others, former MLA and social worker Dilip Shreechandan, Professor Jagannath Patnaik and actor Rishi Patnaik and founder of Swargadwara Service pvt. Ltd. Plaban Mohapatra shared the dais.
