Four persons including two police constables were detained by Odisha police for smuggling huge quantity of ganja in a truck laden with broken glass bottles in Koraput district here today.
Borigumma police seized seven packets of ganja, which were illegally transported to Raipur in neighbouring state Chhattisgarh in a truck.
Besides, police also seized a Maruti car and auto.
Shockingly, two police constables were escorting the truck carrying the ganja in a car to its destination.
According to reports, the ganja packets were first brought by an auto from Balimela and Kalimela of Malkangiri district. Later, the packets were loaded on the truck numbered OR 05 W0855 at Haradaput square under Borigumma block to transport those to Chhattisgarh via Koraput route. Police succeeded to nab the truck while patrolling in the area last night. They detained two police personnel; one of them was an OASP employee, among four others for illegal transportation of ganja from the district.
However, two others accused are at large.
Police said that the quantity of ganja and other details will be provided after investigation.
