Phulbani, Dec 24 :
KSSS leader Lambodar Kanhar announced this on Tuesday night, after a long discussion with the RDC ( South ) Bikash Mohapatra, collector N Thirumala Nayak, SP K. Vishal Singh and other senior officials at the Circuit House here.
He said the bandh call was withdrawn because the government had conceded to one of their major demands during the negotiation.
Now, 50% of the seats at the CT schools in Phulbani and Baliguda will be reserved for persons belonging to Kandhamal district, he said, adding, “this was one of our major demands and the government today accepted it.”
” The government has also agreed to consider the other issues raised by us in our 34-point charter of demands favourably,”Kanhar said.
“The Christians across the district can now look forward to a peaceful and fun-filled celebration tonight and tomorrow,” a visibly happy Christian leader said.
“The administration, however, is not taking anything for granted and the security measures will be in place despite the withdrawal of the bandh call,” a senior police official told OST.
