KSSS leader, Lambodar Kanhar told OST that while the discussion with the district collector N.Thirumala Nayak and the sub-collector Debesh Das was on a positive note, the bandh will not be withdrawn until the government fulfills their eight year old 34-point charter of demands.
Kanhar said, although the collector kept assuring him that their demands will be addressed, state the government has been dithering on important demands including the arrest of the killers of Khageswar Mallik who perished in an alleged attack by the minority community at Barkhama in December 2007, identification and dismissal of all the persons who occupy government jobs on the basis of fake caste certificates and restoration of tribals’ rights over land grabbed by non-tribals.
The executive body of the KSSS will meet on Tuesday to take stock of the situation, Kanhar said, adding , the call for Kandhamal bandh on Decmber 25 stands until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, the administration is working on the ways and means of resolving the crisis latest by Tuesday afternoon, a source in the collectorate informed OST.
