International Yoga Day was celebrated in KIIT & KISS in the Odisha capital today.
The staff, students and teachers of the institute assembled at KIIT ground in the morning for practice yoga which started at 7 AM as per schedule of national yoga event.
The Yoga practice was led by founder, KIIT & KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta.
Inaugurating the International Yoga Day he said Yoga is the only way to free our body and mind from various illnesses and a journey through the inner ‘self’ to connect to the supreme soul. Yoga and meditation are essential for every human as it relaxes mind and resists body.
The United Nations has declared June 21, as the International Yoga Day for the first time. As many as 192 countries were participated in International Yoga Day. It is a matter of pride for all Indians that yoga which is part of our culture is getting such attention on an international platform.
Among others Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC KIIT University and Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar and other dignitaries also participated in the event.
