Commissionerate Police today claimed to have cracked the case of an alleged kidnapping after rescuing the victim within 30 hours of the incident and arresting the prime accused involved in the case.
According to Airfield police sources, at about 5.50 pm on Monday, one Rabindra Kumar Barik (25) of Sisupalgarh was kidnapped by Raghunath Moharana and four others from Kargil Road near Pokhariput Petrol pump. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh to release the victim.
Bairagi Barik, the father of Rabindra, reported the matter at Airfield police station the next day basing on which a case (126/15) was registered against the accused and charges under section 364 (A)/ 34 IPC slapped against them.
During the course of investigation, police conducted raids at different places of Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Jatni and managed to rescue the victim Rabindra from near Madhusudan Park yesterday evening.
Police also arrested the prime accused Raghunath Moharana and seized mobile phones, a motor cycle bearing Registration number (OD-02U-3792) and one Ford Figo Car (reg-OR-02BH-8970) used in the crime.
Accused Raghunath was forwarded to a local court here today.
Police also revealed that there was some dispute between the complainant Bairagi Barik and accused Raghunath regarding payment of an outstanding loan amount.
Further investigation regarding involvement of other accused persons, their antecedents etc. is going on, said an official of Airfiled police station.
