Bhubaneswar, Mar 8:
Former Test players Vinod Kambli and Narendra Hirwani have praised the new Indian team despite their poor performance in recent matches.
“Though Team India lost to Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament, it would definitely bounce back against the rival team in the forthcoming World Cup”, said Kambli during his visit to the city to attend the concluding ceremony of the KIIT Premier League Cricket Tournament on Friday.
He said though Team India performed poorly against South Africa and New Zealand during its overseas tour followed by the current Asia Cup tournament, it has learnt some basic lessons that would help the team in the forthcoming matches.
Referring to the absence of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kambli said his presence would be of great advantage to the team.
He, however, praised the present captain Virat Kohli.
“I am very happy the way that Virat had led his team. He is an attacking player with aggressive intent. I am sure he would perform even better in future”, he pointed out.
“There is ups and downs in every game. That’s not a big issue. The current Indian team has quality players but they are not experienced and exposed to overseas conditions. I am confident that they would learn from their mistakes and prove their potential in the coming days ahead”, said Hirwani.
