A fine century by Biplab Samantray put Cuttack-A in a commanding position against Rourkela on the penultimate day of the Kalahandi Cup Cricket final at Ravenshaw Ground here today.
The home team which began this morning with its overnight score at 233 for 3 declared its innings at 362 for 9 with a first innings lead of 86 runs.
The highlight of the Cuttack-A innings was Biplab Samantray’s brilliant 129. He was duly assisted by Arvind Singh (40), Bibhudutta Panda (32) and Haladhar Das (20).
For Rourkela, Asish Mitra claimed five wickets while Alok Pradhan bagged two wickets.
In their second innings, Rourkela lost three wickets quickly. However, Alok Pradhan did a rescue act with an unbeaten 46 with his partner Ansuman Gope who remained not out at 14 at draw of stumps.
