Tamil Nadu and Meghalaya won their quarterfinal matches in the ongoing Junior National Women’s Football Championship here on Friday.
In a well-contested match at the Police ground, Tamil Nadu defeated Bihar by a solitary goal scored by K Vijaya Kumari in the 55th minute.
In another match at the Barabati stadium, Meghalaya defeated Maharashtra 4-3 in a thrilling encounter.
Meghalaya took the early lead when R Shulet scored two goals in the 9th and 41st minutes while her team mate, Solina Jaba and Batbitbha Bareh scored one goal each in the 48th and 85th minutes.
Though Maharashtra came back strongly scoring three goals in 10 minutes, they failed to level the score.
For Maharashtra, Komal Devkule scored two goals while Zarashana Mistry scored one.
