Baripada, Dec 24:
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday claimed that his party’s alliance with the Congress was intact and they would jointly contest the Lok Sabha poll together.
While ruling out joining the proposed Third Front, Soren said his party was yet to decide on forging any state-specific poll alliance with any party here. “The decision in this regard would be taken at the appropriate time,” he said.
The Jharkhand chief minister said the central committee of the JMM headed by Shibu Soren would decide on the number of seats the party would contest. But he expressed confidence that his party would perform better than it did in the 2009 polls.
The JMM leader criticized the Naveen Patnaik government for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to deprive tribals of their legitimate rights, claiming that the tribal population in the state had decreased as per the 2011 census in comparison with that of 2001.
