Heavy security bandobast has been put in place for the first phase polls to be held tomorrow in Odisha’s Maoist prone Nabarangpur district.
Seven companies of BSF, 4 units of SOG, 5 platoons of OSAP and Chhattisgarh police personnel jointly conducted anti-Maoist operations in areas bordering neighbouring Chhattisgarh today.
Sixty seven mobile units, 12 flying squads, 12 static surveillance teams, 8 border check posts and 12 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been put under combat preparedness to meet any possible attempt by the rebels to disrupt polls, police sources said.
97 out of the 971 booths in the district are Maoist affected.
IGP South Western Yashwant Jethwa today reviewed the security situation in the district with BSF IG A.K.Sharma , Collector Md Sadique Alam and S.P Brajesh.
Jethwa visited Maoist affected areas under Kundei and Raighar police limits in the district on the Chhattisgarh border.
