Japanese Encephalitis claimed life of one more child in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today taking the death toll in the vector-borne disease to 72 in 48 days.
The deceased was identified as Sania Raba (2) of Kurusibeda village under Korakonda block in the district.
Three kids had succumbed to the disese on Monday while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters hospital here.
The Central team, which had visited the affected villages in the district to take stock of the situation, had on Monday stated that Japanese Encephalitis in under control in Malkangiri.
Kalpana Baruah, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme’s Joint Director and a member of the team, had said that decision regarding administration of vaccines would be taken after a meeting to be held in November-December.
