JE claims one more life in Odisha’s Malkangiri; toll reaches 52

Malkangiri, Oct 14:
Japanese Encephalitis claimed life of one more child in Odisha’s Malkangiri district this morning taking the death toll in the vector-borne disease to 52 in 36 days.
The deceased was identified as Jayanti Madkami (2) of Katangapalli village under Padia block in the district.
Notably, Jayanti’s elder sister Rebika Madkami (3) has succumbed to the disease yesterday.
Health Secretary Arti Ahuja had visited the affected villagers in the district and held a review meeting here yesterday to take stock of the situation. She had informed that immunization programme for the vector-borne disease will commence from December this year in four districts– Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Malkangiri.
