Activists of Chhattisgarh Janta Congress today protested the visit of 12-member committee of Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal to Chhattisgarh to review the construction of projects on the upper catchments of river Mahanadi.
According to reports, the Janta Congress workers staged protest in front of the hotel where the BJD team is staying. As many as 40 activists were detained by police, sources said.
Protests were also staged at Mulumula, Akaltara, Janchgir, Chapa and Ratanpur in Chhattisgarh. The BJD team had to change its route for visiting the project areas due to the protests, sources added.
Notably, the Janta Congress is opposing the discussion of Chhattisgarh government with a political team over the projects.
