Commissionerate Police today arrested a 55-year-old man from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on the charge of fraudulently acquiring 1.5 acres of land belonging to one Tarun Nayak under Bhubaneswar tehsil and selling it off to private parties.
The accused was identified as Abdul Kaim Khan, a native of Samang village in Jagatsinghpur.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Tarun, Saheed Nagar police today conducted a surprise raid in Samang village and arrested the accused from his house.
The complainant had alleged that Abdul, along with Bipin Bihari Das and other friends, had fraudulently transferred the ownership of 1.5 acres of land to their own name by submitting forged documents.
The land located in Patia mouza under Bhubaneswar tehsil is worth Rs 92 lakh.
During the investigation, the police found that the accused were trying to sell the land to some doctors in the city.
“After verifying all documents given to us by the complainant, we traced the irregularities in the possession of the land and arrested the accused today. Further investigation is on to nab Abdul’s associates involved in facilitating the land scam,” said an investigating officer in the case.
