Rayagada, Jun 24:

The district and sessions court of Rayagada in Odisha today rejected the plea of suspended school inspector  (SI) Netrananda Dandasena seeking quashing of the case against him in connection with the murder of Itishree Pradhan, a lady teacher in Tikri upper primary school, and ordered the recording the statements of witnesses from his side from June 26.

Dandasena’s counsel Bishnu Prasad Panda had moved a plea under section 232 of CrPC on April 27 seeking the release of his client on the ground that the Crime Branch had not able to provide any evidence proving Dandasena’s involvement in the murder.

After hearing the plea, the court had reserved its verdict on June 20.

The court has so far recorded statement of 36 witnesses produced by the crime branch.

In the earlier proceedings in the court of Janab Mohammad Akmal, Dandasena was asked 80 questions on April 27. While answering them, Dandasena had admitted to enmity with Itishree, threatening her from his nephew’s cell phone and being in touch with Former Koraput MP Jayaram Pangi. He, however, denied murdering the lady teacher.

It may be noted that the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Odisha’s Rayagada district had earlier acquitted Dandasena and five members of his family of charges of manhandling and murder threat to Itishree Pradhan on June 18 and Dandasena from the alleged misbehaviour and mental torture to Itishree charge on June 22.
