Bhubaneswar, Sep 17:
Odisha minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare and MLA from Brahmagiri Sanjay Dasburma today claimed he had nothing to do with the chit fund scam in the state.
Reading out a written note, Dasburma told reporters, “I am in no way connected with the chit fund scam. I feel my name is being dragged into it to influence the CBI probe. It’s a conspiracy I presume to influence the CBI investigation”.
Incidentally, it was Artha Tatwa (AT) Group CMD Pradip Sethy who had told a select group of journalists while being produced at the special chief judicial magistrate court here on September 6 that he had invested Rs 1.65 crore in Theme Creatives Private Limited, an advertising agency promoted by a young minister and a former BJD MLA through Bikash Swain, proprietor of Odia daily Suryaprava arrested by the CBI for his suspected complicity in the chit fund scam.
Sethy’s statement had given rise to speculations in the media circles about the identity of the minister and that is how Sanjay Dasburma’s name had cropped up.
However, it is unlikely that the CBI would be influenced by media speculation because the real identity of the young minister may have been disclosed by Sethy before the CBI team, which conducted a longish and thorough interrogation of AT Group chief.
