Bhubaneswar, Aug 19
In view of the spurt in crimes in the state capital, the commissionerate police is planning to start intelligence-based operations to add more teeth to community policing.
“With the police-public interface already making a positive impact through community policing, the intelligence based operation would definitely help the police prevent petty crimes in respective localities in the city”, newly appointed Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma told reporters after attending a police-public interaction meeting at Sainik School here yesterday.
Urging the people to inform the police about anti-social activities in their localities, he informed that the phone numbers of some police officers will be given to the local people to share information.
Other senior police officials, present at the meeting, stressed public cooperation while praising the courage of a youth who had helped the police in nabbing a chain snatcher in Nageswartangi area in the city recently.
