Bhubaneswar, Feb 18:
In order to keep a strict vigil on rash driving and anti-social activities, the city commissionerate police will begin the installation of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras at various strategic locations of the city from today in the first phase on experimental basis, official sources said.
The installation work, to be carried out by the Odisha State Police and Housing Welfare Corporation, will be completed by March.
About 30 sensitive places in the capital city have been identified for installation of CCTV cameras.
It has been decided that the CCTVs would be installed by five national and international agencies of which commissionerate police would select one agency after reviewing the quality and performance.
For transmission and monitoring of footage, a state-of-the-art monitoring centre has been set up at the Police Commissionerate building.
