Infant’s body recovered near Pipili in Odisha

Puri, Oct 28:

The body of the one-year-old baby girl, who was missing after her mother along with the child had jumped into Puri canal yesterday, was recovered today from a canal in Pipili, Puri district of Odisha.

The body of the child was kept in the Pipili  government hospital and was immediately identified by  her father Satyajit Mohanty, according to reports.

On the infant first birthday, yesterday, the mother in a suicide bid along with child had jumped into the Puri Canal near Balianta on the outskirts of Odisha capital.

While the mother was fished out in a critical condition and taken to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment  the child was reported missing.

Efforts were on by the fire brigade team to trace out the missing child.

The woman, identified as Subhashree Patnaik, had married Satyajit Mohanty in June, 2013. The couple, who are employees of Union Home department currently posted in Choudwar, were blessed with a girl on October 27, 2014.

Police have begun an investigation into the incident.
