Indian History Congress concludes, recommends Odisha History Council

The three day long 74th session of Indian History Congress ( IHC ) held at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack concluded on Monday.

Around 1800 delegates including noted historians Prof. Romila Thapar, Padmashree Prof. Herman Kulke, Prof. Irfan Habib, Prof. Indu Banga, Prof. M N Das, Prof. J S Grewal, Prof. G C Tripathy, Prof. Partho Chatterjee, Prof. Raj Sekhar Basu, Prof. K N Ganesh, Prof. Akeel Vilgrami, Prof. Z H Jafri and many others participated in the grand convention.

As many as 750 papers were presented by historians from all over the country as well as from countries like Japan, Germany and Columbia during the three day event.

On the concluding day, three resolutions were passed in the IHC general body meeting. These are (a) recommendation for establishing an Odisha Council of Historical Research by the State Government of Odisha, (b) non-Professional Administration of Institutions affecting historical and archaeological research under the Government of India and (c ) archaeological excavations at Dandikhera, Unnao district in UP.
