Bhubaneswar, Nov 3:
Officials of the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) today sealed an illegally run clinic located in Jayadev Vihar area of Odisha capital.
The proprietor of the clinic allegedly not being a qualified doctor was running the clinic.
The DMET conducted the raid following complaints that the proprietor not being a doctor was attending to patients. The clinic is not even registered under the provisions of the Orissa Clinical Establishment (Control & Regulation) Act-1990, sources said.
“We received complaints against the proprietor who not being a qualified doctor was treating patients. We had issued letter to him through the Odisha Council of Medical Registration. From his reply, we came to know that he didn’t have a doctorate in medicine (MD) degree but had some qualification in alternate medicine. The clinic doesn’t have a registration as is required under the provisions of the Orissa Clinical Establishment (Control & Regulation) Act-1990. He has impersonated as doctor simply to cheat patients. We have received complaints that he stays in CDA, Cuttack,” said an official in the raid party.
While DMET officials have seized several incriminating documents from the clinic during the raid, the proprietor of the clinic has absconded. Police was present during the raid.
