IIC critically injured in attack by villagers in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Inspector-in-charge of Basudevpur police station in Odisha’s Bhadrak district sustained critical injuries in an attack by some residents of Lunga village in the area yesterday.

According to reports, a DJ vehicle hit a minor girl at Lunga village last evening during a procession. The father of the girl lodged a complaint with Basudevpur police in this regard following which Basudevpur police station IIC and three policemen reached the spot.

While the cops were holding discussion with the villagers over the issue, some of them started thrashing the IIC besides pelting stones at him. The locals also damaged a police van.

The police official was critically injured in the incident and hospitalised. As many as 23 persons have been detained in this connection. Investigation into the matter is underway.
