Hudhud moves away from Vizag, very heavy rainfall in south Odisha over next 24 hours

The very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud which crossed the north Andhra coast at noon today has now moved 20 km west-northwest of Visakhapatanam, the Met Centre at the Odisha capital city said.

The present wind speed of Hudhud is 150 to 160 kmph, gusting to 170 kmph, the Met Centre informed, adding, it will weaken into a severe cyclonic storm in the next three hours and into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent three hours.

The Met Centre has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places and extremely heavy rainfall upto 250 mm at a few places in south Odisha districts over the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Centre, parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Ganjam, Gajpati, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Nawapara, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur and Phulbani were likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall (up to 250 mm )in the next 24 hours.
