Cuttack, Mar 11:
Answer paper evaluation of High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha began this morning in 67 e-school centres of the state.
As per information provided by BSE President Dakshya Prasad Nanda, out of the 58,123 teachers of 8,233 schools that had registered online with the BSE for answer sheet evaluation, BSE has tasked 16,000 teachers for the job.
The centers have been provided with necessary facilities and security arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth evaluation. The activity would continue from 9 AM till 5 PM every day till March 24.
In order to avoid delays and mistakes in evaluation, the board has adopted a new system in which the answer sheets and marks awarded would be directly sent to a tabulation centre online. A private company has been asked to do the job.
This method has earlier been tried out during the last supplementary HSC examination.
The answer paper evaluation would be completed by March 24 and result would be published by first week of May, said Nanda.
While there were concerns over participation of Block Grant teachers, the teachers under the banner of ‘Odisha Vidyalaya Sikhyak Mahasangh’ have agreed to cooperate in the evaluation process. Some of the teachers not in evaluation duty, however, would continue their agitation at Lower PMG Square of Bhubaneswar demanding abolition of block grant system and full grant-in-aid.
Notably, the examination began on February 22. This year 6, 01,348 students appeared in the annual examination at 2,882 centres. Of them 5, 63, 220 students are regular students and 26, 023 students are ex-regular students.
