Bhubaneswar, Jun 8:
The CBI today arrested a relative of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Shibu Soren in the Odisha capital in connection with the horsetrading in the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand in 2012.
Sources said the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the CBI’s Ranchi Division arrested BN Majhi, Shibu Soren’s in-law, from the Lewis Road area here.
The house from where Majhi was arrested belonged to his daughter, who is married to Shibu Soren’s eldest son Durga Soren.
Confirming the arrest of Majhi, the CBI headquarters in New Delhi said the accused was later produced in the Special CBI court here, which allowed the Central investigating wing to take him on a three-day transit remand. He will be produced in the Ranchi CBI court by June 11.
Majhi, however, claimed he was innocent. “I do not know why they have arrested me. I have not been given any information in this regard,” he said.
