The local Met office has warned of widespread rainfall in most parts of Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
In a release today, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said a low pressure formed over west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coast yesterday and lying as a well-marked low pressure area over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast this morning, is most likely concentrate into a depression in the next 24 hours.
Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha while heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over South Odisha in the next 24 hours. Besides, heavy rainfall would also occur at one or two places over North Odisha during the period, the release said.
The Met office has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as gusty surface wind from north-easterly direction with speeds reaching 45 to 50 kmph gusting up to 60 kmph may prevail along and off the Odisha coast during the period.
