Most parts of interior and coastal Odisha would receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, the local Met office said in a release today.
“The low pressure, which was lying over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal yesterday, has moved towards northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and lay centred over the adjoining areas of Bihar and Jharkhand at 08.30 hours today. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over the interior districts and heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal districts of Odisha during next 24 hours. Besides, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha,” the release said.
Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea as gusty surface wind from south-westerly direction with speed reaching 40 to 45 kmph gusting up to 50 kmph may prevail along and off the Odisha coast during the period, the release added.
