Bhubaneswar: In view of the possible heavy rainfall across the state tomorrow, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed officials to ensure adequate measures at those places where parades will be held on the occasion of Independence Day.
Chairing a meeting at the State Secretariat today over preparedness against the rainfall, Patnaik also advised to pay special attention towards avoiding inconvenience for students participating in the parades.
The CM asked the district Collectors to stay prepared in order to tackle any eventuality arising out of the heavy downpour. It was informed in the meeting that water-level in major rivers across the state remained below the danger mark.
“The district collectors have been asked to stay alert and decide whether to declare Government holiday tomorrow or not,” said Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi after the meeting.
On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to occur in 13 districts– Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Boudh and Sambalpur today.
