While temperature in most parts of Odisha remained below 40 degree Celsius, the state capital remained the hottest place in the state for the second consecutive day today at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
Intense humid conditions with searing heat disrupted normal life in the city.
The local Met office in a release this evening said temperature in most parts of the state will come down further in the next five days till June 6 as there is possibility of rain or thundershower at some places in the coastal districts and heavy rains in some parts of interior districts during the period.
However, temperature would go up from June 7 to 9, it added.
