Heat wave: Morning classes in Odisha schools from April 2


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today directed schools in the State to conduct morning classes from April 2 as a precautionary and preventive measure against possible heat wave during summer this year.

The School and Mass Education department today directed all schools in the State including public schools and privately managed schools to reschedule timing of all classes between 6.30 am to 10.30 am from April 2.

“Timing of all classes is rescheduled between 6.30 am to 10.30 am in all schools of the State (including public schools and privately managed schools) from 2nd April, 2018,” reads a memo issued by the School and Mass Education department.

The memo also says that mid day meals (MDM) will be served at 10.00 am and in no case the school shall remain open beyond 11.00 am.

The memo further suggests schools to complete assessment exercise/examination by 31st of this month.

Besides, provision of drinking water and first aid is a must at examination centers, the memo states.

While the memo states that academic session 2018-19 will start from April 3, ‘Pravesh Utsav’ will be observed on April 2.

In the memo teachers have been asked to engage the children with revision of courses till March 31 after examination/assessment is over.

Head Masters have been instructed to make provision of drinking water in schools where the tube wells are not available. They have have been asked to advice students to come to school with umbrella and water bottle during summer season.

The memo says that physical training in the school should be made optional for the students during summer season.

Moreover, the memo states that summer vacation will start from May 4 this year.
