The coal town of Talcher recorded the highest temperature at 42.5 degree Celsius as the heat wave continued in the west and interior areas of Odisha today.
Temperature rose to 40 degree and beyond in Sambalpur (40.2), Hirakud (40.1), Bhawanipatna (41.2), Bolangir (40), Titlagarh (41.5), Malkangiri (40.2) and Sonepur (40).
The Met office has predicted rain or thundershowers in one or two places of the state in the next 48 hours. Temperature would rise further from April 14 onwards, it has warned.
