Bhubaneswar: Terming his minor son’s shocking death is an “accident”, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sanjiv Satpathy urged people, especially the mediapersons to refrain from making unnecessary comments and assumptions over the incident.
A visibly shaken and heart-broken Satpathy said his 12-year-old son Ayushman died while trying to mock his death after his mother shouted at him for playing with the pet dog till late night.
“This is a humble request to all the print and electronic media friends not to spread wrong news about my son Ayushman. My son was a brilliant student and was very affectionate too and above all he loves his parents and his only sister very much,” the ACP said in a statement issued to the media.
Explaining under which circumstances his son had died, Satpathy said : “He (Ayushman) was in the habit of playing prank with all his family members and day before yesterday also when my wife asked him not to play with my pet dog Honey as it was already 12.30 am ,this upset him and to show his mother his anger so that she won’t abuse Honey in future he was showing off by putting a jean pant on his neck and accidentally he fell inside the clutches which could not be noticed by my wife immediately which my son had wanted that time.”
Recalling his son’s daily schedule, Satpathy further said that he (Ayushman) was a good tennis player who as usual had been to the tennis court day before yesterday accompanied by his mother who was in the Court from 3 pm till 6 pm and after taking his evening snacks he went to evening tuition from 7 pm to 9 pm and after completion of the tuition he played football and came to house at 10 pm.
The police officer also ruled out the video game angle for his son’s death which was earlier speculated in the media.
“So, I sincerely request and beg u all that don’t term the death of my son as suicide. Please don’t make unnecessary comments and absurd presumption of my sons death,” he added.
The ACP has requested the media persons to treat his son’s death as an accident and stop speculations over it. “So, I hope you understand the condition of me and my family members. We are all broken losing my most handsome son and your wrong news has hurt us more than that .I sincerely request u all to help me and my family and stop spreading wrong news.”
It may be recalled here that the body of Ayushman was found hanging from the ceiling fan by members of the family at his father’s official residence in Jayadev Vihar here on Sunday morning. The boy was studying in class 7 in Bhubaneswar in an English medium school.
