The headmistress of an upper primary school was suspended and a para-teacher dismissed from the service following the death of a school girl who was electrocuted inside the school premises on Wednesday at Patimunda in Odisha’s Baleswar district.
According to reports, Ritika Biswal, a seven-year-old girl of class-II of a Upper Primary School at Patimunda of Bahanaga block, had gone to the back side of the school to attend the nature’s call at about noon when she came in contact with a live wire which was illegally drawn from a nearby electric pole by a lady para-teacher staying in the school premises.
She was immediately rushed to the government hospital at Soro where the doctors declared her as brought dead.
Tension ran high after the villagers and the family members of the victim rushed to the school and demanded action against the school authorities.
Following information, Block Education Officer (BEO) Mayadhar Sahu rushed to the school for an on-the-spot investigation.
On the basis of the report of the BEO, the district administration has placed the headmistress Draupadi Lenka under suspension and dismissed the lady para-teacher Mamata Sahu from the service, informed the District Education Officer (DEO).
