Headmaster held for illegal timber trade in Odisha

Rayagada: A school headmaster was arrested on charges of illegal logging here in Odisha.

The accused was identified as Premananda Lenka, the headmaster of Pandaraguda UP School.

According to reports, Lenka, who was residing at Ambadala village under Muniguda Forest Range of Rayagada district, was allegedly involved in illegal timer trade for a long time.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of forest officials on a directive by the Rayagada DFO raided the residence of Lenka on Friday. They arrested him and seized a huge amount of timbers worth around Rs 70,000 from his house during the raid.
