The Odisha High Court Bar Association today went on a cease work in protest against the move for a permanent bench in Western Odisha. Terming the move as ‘undemocratic’, the Bar voiced opposition to the stalling of the ULB poll machinery in the districts, accusing the politicians of “throttling the democratic process”.
On Thursday, the state government invited the striking lawyers of Western Odisha for talks on Saturday.
Law Minister Maheswar Mohanty on Thursday said in the capital that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hold discussion with the representatives of Central Action Committee (CAC) of lawyers on August 24 and hoped that discussions will restore normalcy.
