Sambalpur, Jan 16:
The Joint Action Committee of the Western Odisha Lawyers’ Association on Thursday urged the state government to submit a detailed report and proposal on setting up a permanent High Court bench in Western Odisha to the Centre.
The Committee, in a meeting here, decided to observe ‘Chetabani (warning) Week from January 21 to 28. This would be followed by a two-day dharna by the Western Odisha lawyers in front of the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar on January 29 and 30.
The meeting also decided to continue the agitation during the winter session of the State Assembly and close down all government offices and court works in the Western Odisha districts during the session.
The members of the committee unanimously decided to stage indefinite dharna in front of the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Northern Division till the fulfilment of their demands.
