There is an undercurrent of excitement in the air for the women drivers. Temple city Bhubaneswar will witness the most colorful women’s car rally for the first time with a motto ‘pledge for parity’ to promote gender equality on March 6, two days before the International Women’s Day. The rally will also spread awareness about traffic safety.
This will be an apt platform to prove that women are responsible and good drivers. Gone are the days when the husband literally cringed at the thought of handing over the car keys to his wife. This car rally is also going to be a beautiful bond which will bridge relationships. Mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws , friends, team mates, etc. will be driving and navigating . It will be a conglomeration of more than 250 happy women drivers, above 18 years and having a valid driving license who will be creating history.
The rally which will be covering a distance of 40 km is organised by the Car Carnival and Seva Prayas Foundation . It will be flagged off from the KIIT stadium and will culminate at the 7th Battalion. Registration of the participants is open online at www.carrally.in and offline through volunteers deployed at various malls. On the day of the rally, a road map will be provided to the participants.
“This is not a race but a rally for the women at the wheels,” said Namrata Chadda, Chief advisory of the foundation. Participants from the corporate fields, sports, educational institutions, housewives, media etc. have registered to participate. Winners will be judged according to the themes and the costumes worn by the participants. They will win a cash prize of Rs 10,000 (1st prize), Rs 6000 (2nd prize) and Rs 4000 (3rd prize). Activist Linkan Subudhi, sports persons Anuradha Biswal, Valena Valentina and television anchor Sulagna Routray will be motivating the participants in the event.
