Bhubaneswar, Dec 18:
While confirming the arrest of the accused, Kalahandi SP Sarthak Sarangi declined to divulge the name of the culprit or the place from where he was arrested. “It may alert the other two we are looking for,” he told OST over phone from Bhawanipatna.
The SP also refused to confirm if the man arrested yesterday was the main culprit in the case. “We are zeroing in on the two other accused and will arrest them soon. I hope to be able to give you the details by evening today,” Sarangi said.
The palms of two migrant labourers – Nilambar Dhangda Majhi and Piyalu Dhangda Majhi – from Nuapada village in Jaypatna area were chopped off by a labour contractor and his henchmen late on Sunday night after they expressed their inability to pay back the advance taken while being forcibly taken to Chhattisgarh to work at a construction site there.
The two labourers are now under treatment at the Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital. Doctors attending on them say they are now out of danger.
