Normal life was affected here due to a 12-hour bandh called by locals demanding restoration of peace in Banki college after a clash between some youths and students of the college on August 22.


While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt as people staged road blockade by burning tyres. They also demanded arrest of the youths involved in the incident, sources said.

Notably, more than seven youths were injured in a group clash over passing of comment to a girl student of Banki college on August 22. Some youths of Banki town had allegedly passed comments to a girl student of the college hailing from Dansa village. The group of youths and Banki college students had clashed on the college premises over the matter.

Following the incident, the college was closed sine-die and students were asked to vacate hostel immediately.
