Bhadrak: A clash between two groups over construction of a mini stadium at Gohirani village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district claimed life of a man and critically injured four others today.

According to reports, an amount of Rs 3.5 lakh was sanctioned for construction of a mini stadium in the village and a work order regarding the project was given to the local Sarpanch’s son Debashish Das and his friend.

However, one Lokanath Sethi of the village and his supporters had opposed the mini stadium alleging that sub-standard construction work was carried out by Debashish and his associates.

The friction between the two groups turned into a group clash this morning which became fatal as Lokanath died on the spot due to knife attack. Four others sustained injuries in the incident and were admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

Police have started investigation into the matter after arresting Debashish. Cops have been deployed in the village to avoid further untoward incident.
