A group clash erupted between the residents of Jholasahi and Pithapur in Odisha’s Cuttack city today over border dispute between the two localities.
According to reports, a bitter exchange of words ensued between the two groups during uninstalling of lights from a Durga Puja pandal in the area. The incident turned violent as the two groups started hurling stones and bottles at each other, sources said.
As many as two cars, 2 bikes and a pickup van were reportedly damaged in the clash.
On being informed about the incident, Purighat police rushed to the spot. The situation came under control after the cops managed to pacify the irate locals.
Police forces have been deployed at the spot to avoid further untoward incident.
