Ashutosh Padhy, who won Sub-Junior Billiards and Snooker titles as also the Junior Snooker title in the Manisha Billiards and Snooker Championship in Lucknow recently, was accorded a warm welcome here on his return to the city on Monday night.
Talking to newsmen at the Biju Patnaik airport here, Padhy said he needs to concentrate on the game and go for rigorous practice.
He praised his coach Subrat Das for motivating him to stay strong and think positively.
“I am hopeful that my achievement would inspire other players in the state to take cue sports seriously. I also hope that the state government will extend its support for the development of the game”, Padhy said.
Ashutosh, who became the first Odia cueist to qualify for the Asian Snooker and Billiards Championship in the junior category -scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from April 4 – would also participate in the world championship to be held later this year.
