The Higher Education department has initiated steps to digitise all government colleges and universities in Odisha.
In a meeting, presided over by former vice chancellor of North Odisha University (NoU) Prof Sanghamitra Mohanty in the city here on Tuesday, it was decided that the campus of all government universities would be made Wi-Fi enabled in the initial phase.
The Wi-Fi service would be provided to all departments, classrooms, administrative offices, libraries and hostels.
Apart from this, arrangements would be made for smart classrooms and e-library in these universities.
The Wi-Fi service would be extended to other areas of the universities in the next phase.
After the installation of the Wi-Fi system in these universities, similar steps would be taken in all government colleges.
The Higher Education department would provide the financial assistance for installation of Wi-Fi network, e-library and smart classrooms in these universities while Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) would be the nodal agency.
Among others, senior officials of the universities and Higher Education department were present at the meeting.
